Welcome back. Today, we had our first lesson in 5A1. Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Introduction

□ 2. Vocabulary words 1 - 30

□ 3. Homework: Vocabulary words 1 – 30 x 4, defs x 1, 5 sentences using 3 vocabulary words.

1.    lecture (n): a talk given to teach something

2.   microscope (n): a tool that makes tiny things look bigger

3.   beaker (n): a cup used in science labs to mix liquids

4.   precise (adj): exact or accurate

5.   analysis (n): a detailed study of something to understand it better

6.   relentless (adj): never stopping or giving up

7.   hollow (adj): empty inside

8.   identity (n): who someone is

9.   alike (adj): very similar

10.  solve (v): to find the answer

11. homemade (adj): made at home

12.  laboratory (n): a place where scientists work and do experiments

13.  solution (n): the answer to a problem

14.  shove (v): to push hard

15.  obviously (adv): in a way that is easy to see or understand

16.  prove (v): to show something is true

17.  assignment (n): a task or job to do

18.  horrified (adj): very scared or shocked

19.  competitor (n): someone who tries to win against others

20. technique (n): a way of doing something

21.  amateur (n): someone who is not experienced or professional

22. "no-nonsense" (adj): very serious and practical

23. furnace (n): a device that makes heat

24. expect (v): to think something will happen

25. simulate (v): to imitate or copy

26. hypothesis (n): a guess you test to see if it's true

27. educated (adj): having knowledge from learning

28. yeast (n): something that makes dough rise

29. moisture (n): small amount of water

30. culprit (n): a person who did something wrong
